🎉 An Extra•Ordinary Celebration 2024, held on 3 July 2024 at the University Cultural Centre, was a unique annual extravaganza. It stood out for its diverse group of performers, including those from special education schools and mainstream institutions.
❤️ This year marks its fifth year as it highlights the abilities and talents of all participants. At Extra•Ordinary People, we aim to remove invisible barriers and promote unity and inclusivity. An Extra•Ordinary Celebration is one small piece in this whole jigsaw of piecing together and uniting diverse communities.
🎶To spread this message and engage the gears of unity, the audience was treated to acts ranging from drums to orchestra, dance, choirs, and iPads that simulated the sound of string instruments. Contributions from charitable organisations Nuevo Amanecer (Mexico), Hong Chi Association (Hong Kong) and Kiwanis CareHeart Centre (Malaysia) also took place.
🥳The evening’s finale was highly interactive, with the audience playing along to the tune of the all-time favourite “Rasa Sayang” folk song with upcycled percussion instruments crafted by students and volunteers from various groups.
👍Guest-of-Honour Minister Masagos Zulkifli’s closing remarks reinforced our mission to stay on course as we navigate the Enabling Masterplan 2030, which will help shape Singapore into a more inclusive society. Coupled with Singaporeans’ consensus for a more inclusive Singapore as reflected in the launch of Forward Singapore in 2022, we will get there.
🙏 An Extra•Ordinary Celebration 2024 has left a lasting impact on all those who were part of it. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our performers, teachers, school leaders, sponsors, supporters, volunteers, crew, audience and online viewers for being part of this memorable event.
