An Extra•Ordinary Community Art Project

About An Extra•Ordinary Community Art Project

This project was conceived by Extra•Ordinary People in partnership with Gardens by the Bay and Hustle & Bustle to bring the community together in a creative and safe way during a time of social isolation caused by COVID-19.

Created out of used plastic bottles, An Extra•Ordinary Community Art Project features 5 hanging chandeliers at the World of Plants and 4 interactive domes in the Active Gardens.

The artworks present a collective effort co-created by the community and symbolise inclusivity and hope, while raising awareness about environmental sustainability.

Donate: Sponsor 1,000 Special Education Students!

Click here to gift students from Special Education schools the chance to visit the world-renowned “Dale Chihuly: Glass in Bloom” exhibition and view firsthand the community art installations which they had contributed towards!

Help us enable differently abled people to enjoy and appreciate the exhibition.

Most of the time, exhibitions are not easily understood with wordy materials and long descriptions. As the Inclusivity Partner to the “Dale Chihuly: Glass in Bloom” exhibition, ExtraOrdinary People has modified exhibition content into a simpler, easily understood format and has trained volunteer guides on communicating with people with special needs.

Your donation will allow students with special needs to:

  • Visit an exhibition which is friendly for people of all abilities
  • Go on a guided tour by volunteer guides trained to interact and host persons with different communication abilities
  • Learn about the art of glass blowing, environmental sustainability and upcycling of plastics
  • Be part of An Extra•Ordinary Community Art Project where they attend art workshops to co-create a community art installation, made entirely out of upcycled plastics
